Your MSE Membership
Founded in 1889, the Montana Society of Engineers has a long tradition of upholding a high professional standard for our profession in the state of Montana.
Your membership in this society continues this tradition through our advocacy work through the support of our monitoring and lobbying during state legislative sessions. We act as a unified voice for our profession and strive to represent the best interests of Engineers as well as the greater good of the communities we serve through our work.
MSE members also contribute to the future of our profession through several community initiatives, including:
- Montana MATHCOUNTS
- The PE Hall of Fame at MSU-COE
- The Gold Medal Awards
MSE is also an integral part of the annual Joint Engineers Conference, Montana’s premeir engineering conference. Your membership entitles you to a $100 discount on conference registration each year.
In order to become a member of MSE, you must hold a valid license or certificate of registration as a professional engineer (PE), an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) issued under the laws of any state, territory, possession, or district of the United States or the equivelent under the laws of any other country. Engineers in retirement are also eligable to become members as long as they obtained a valid license or certificate while in active practice in the profession.
Students are also eligible to apply for membership as long as they are enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited engineering program or an engineering or pre-engineering program that has a transfer agreement with one or more ABET-accredited engineering programs. Students enrolled full‐time in a graduate‐level engineering program may choose any grade for which they are eligible, including
student member.
